Professor Charles Cannon Delivered Conservation Lecture at Peking University
Oct. 14, Professor Cannon and several members of the Ecological Evolution lab group visited the College of Life Science at Peking University upon the invitation of Dean Rao Yi and Professor Lv Zhi. Dr. Lv is the leader of the conservation group at PKU. Professor Cannon gave a lecture on various topics of conservation, including an introduction of XTBG, application of molecular and GIS techniques in conservation. Professors and students at Peking University were captivated by the lecture, and Professor Cannon was often interrupted by thoughtful questions during his talk. Afterwards, Professors Cannon and Lv further discussed issues on conservation after the meeting and future collaboration between XTBG and PKU is definitely expected. Dean Rao suggested that PKU students should pursue research internships at XTBG in the future.
十月十四日，应北京大学生命学院院长饶毅教授和北京大学生命学院动物保护中心主任吕植教授的热烈邀请，中国科学院西双版纳热带植物园研究员Charles Cannon 博士前往北京大学就题为“物种保护”举行学术讲座。
Charles Cannon 对东南亚的环境保护有着20年的研究经验，在此方面积累了深厚的学术基础，并形成自己独特的环境保护视角。在讲座中，Charles Cannon研究员幽默的话语和对发人深省的环境现实认识，在北京大学的学生中博得了阵阵掌声。讲座中学生大胆的提问，精僻的解释使得现场的气氛达到了高潮，原计划一个半小时的讲座，在这激情澎湃的氛围中延长至两小时且在会后得到了学生了一致称赞。
讲座结束后，Charles Cannon研究员与吕植教授进行了密切的交谈，彼此交换了对于环境保护的意见，吕植教授在祝贺Charles Cannon研究员的讲座完满成功的同时表示非常渴望能在以后与Charles Cannon 研究员进行合作。
